Abstract
This project entitled as “Investigating the antecedents of job continuation and job satisfaction in logistics industry” has been conducted in collaboration with HAVI Logistics. Our academic advisor is Prof. Dr. Bengü Sevil Oflaç and our industrial advisors are Sinem Bircan, Serap Kabat and İpek Ardagil from HAVI Logistics. In our project, we mainly focused on finding the possible reasons of increasing numbers of job discontinuations in logistics and generated suggestions to solve this problem. In order to develop a deeper understanding, we employed semi-structured interviews and an online survey. We deployed structural equation modelling analysis with two diverse research models by using the IBM SPSS and IBM AMOS software. Furthermore, we also coded interview answers with open, axial and selective coding scheme.
The results of the survey and interviews showed that distributive and interactional justice are crucial for job satisfaction. Besides, career growth opportunities, meaning of the job and organizational culture are strongly related with job satisfaction. Moreover, job satisfaction positively affects job continuance intention. The findings from the interviews revealed that employees were not satisfied with wage-fringe benefits policies and career development opportunities. The implications of the study will provide insight for developing organizational strategies to enhance job satisfaction and continuance.
